Lomowalk in Whanganui

The river city has seen better days and was a former cradle of colonialism. Today Victory Ave has too many vacant shops yet it retains outstanding architectural facades. Even the misspelling of the towns name(Wanganui)has only recently been corrected. My great-grandfather Thomas Brough ran the Railway Hotel in the 1860's so I feel a genetic link towards an under appreciated city.

We stayed in a batch in whanganui right next to the river. Enjoyed croquet on the lawn and had a lovely surprise when we saw the paddle steamer pounding down the river. Fond memories.
