Como, Via Canturina - loc. Albate Trecallo, 2017

"Playgrounds" is a new series dedicated to the urban study of the Italian urban landscape, starting from my city Como and extending slowly my research towards the neighboring towns and occasionally also outside the province. I invite you to observe especially the background, the surrounding urban environment. There are no people, there are no children in this series. It is time to study the territory, to better understand the behavior of the people in this sad period when there is a return of nostalgia of an awful past. The environments, as is known, determine behaviors.

@jamescat22 Italian people is living without joy, especially in the North. With anger and racist sentiments. Only money counts. No other values. During this Christmas time I noticed a crazy frenzy, sad faces and people closed in their thoughts, along with a "desperate euphoria". There were also sad episodes of squadrism of neo-Nazi groups against associations that give assistance to migrants, and some political positions that recall a sad past. No joy, even a snowfall is not experienced as a moment of joy but as a discomfort and an obstacle to the working life. So, because people has no time (and never enthusiasm) to taste playful experiences, my "Playgrounds" remains without people. Even the students (I'm a teacher) are considering now the school mainly as a formative period before starting their working life rather than an experience of learning, socialization and as an opportunity for mind openness.

@jamescat22 Central Italy is very different. Friendly people, no space for extreme right movements, nice social live even in the small town. North is very efficient... maybe too much!
