This particular image was underexposed, and so the negative very thin. When I scanned it, as a negative, the image had blocky sections where the shadow detail was low, so I tried scanning as a reflective instead, with white paper behind the negative, which gave a much smoother image. (And I've made it B&W as I wasn't keen on the green hue).
