Carnival in the Rhineland (1)
It is said, that there is a fifth season in the Rhineland, besides Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter - Carnival. That season always starts on the 11th of November (at 11:11 ...) and lasts until Ash Wednesday the following year. The pinnacle is always the grand parade on "Rosenmontag" (Rose Monday ... there really is no good translation for this ...) - every little town has their own parade and the whole populace of this region is either marching in it, or watching it as spectators.
