I've started to shoot kodak 522 double x again. The first time i shot it i wasn't very happy with it, a combination of not understanding what makes this film sing and a poor choice of developer (rodinal). Now i'm souping it in xtol and the results are very encouraging, I also experimented with split grade printing on a couple of these shots for the first time. I'm selling this film in 24 exposure rolls if anyone wants to try some, message me if you're interested.

    You are really getting into complex processes I have hardly heard of....still a lot to learn for me. Beside the processing I do also admire the beautiful 2CV AK!!

    @rolfmg its not that difficult but is a little wasteful on paper so I'm not sure that I will use the method that often. Yes, I'm in love with 2cvs as well!

    @klawe its very versatile and prints well, pretty cheap too if you buy 400ft of it!

    @analogue_native thanks, in retrospect I think I went a big dark here, although in the hands the print looks great:)

    @charliedontsurf split grade wasteful on paper?
    i need about 4 little squares max. and 1 or 2 bigger stripes and its done, mostly!

    @analogue_native perhaps its just me lol.! Looking at all the tutorials out there it can be quite confusing , everybody seems to have a different method. The easiest one for me to get my head around involved making a test print with a 2.5 filter, deciding which time was best, then halving it and exposing the print at grade 0 and grade 5. Then with this print, deciding if you needed lighter or darker highlights, more or less blacks, maybe some local dodging or burning here or there, basically just faffing around until you get it right. If there is a better method I'm all ears:)

    @charliedontsurf why the 2.5?
    i do two tests at the darkest & lighest part with filters 00 & 5
    from the result i diver the times on experience and do a teststrip with 00 & 5 together
    then i'm ready for the final print on fullsheet.

    @analogue_native yeah I tried that one as well. Horses for courses i suppose. I think the guy whose video I watched was a master printer and would happily dick around with 10 sheets of paper until he was satisfied. I will experiment further but I think I'm comfortable enough with the traditional techniques and not enough of a perfectionist to worry too much about it.

    @charliedontsurf yeah true! i find the split grade method very easy to use.
    and i'm quite impatient when the first three teststrips don't work out! :-)
    never happen to me with this method! :-) like to send me the link to the video?

    Nice contrast. And the 2CV is quite uncommon, being an AZU B with reinforced bumper !

    @astonuts thanks, any 2cv is a treat to see on the road now:)
