Analogue Editing by Giacomo Favilla with the Lomo'Instant Automat

After the video and the pictures made with the Neptune Convertible Art Lens system, Giacomo shows us an interesting project of analogue manipulation of some instant pictures made with the Lomo'Instant Automat, in cooperation with Francesca Lombardi.

Hello Giacomo, welcome back to Lomography! Could you please tell us more about this project made with the Lomo'Instant Automat?

We shot these pictures at the Buzz Kill contemporary art gallery where I shot my closest friends with the Lomo'Instant Automat.

Then, together with Francesca Lombardi, we decided to find a way to represent our bond in a concrete way, directly manipulating the pictures.

So we decided to show our emotional bond by using colored threads to sew the pictures together.

What do you like about instant photography?

I like focusing on the single shot rather than a series of shots to choose from in the post-production phase. I like to see the gradual development of the pictures – I love seeing the images appearing, second after second, in my hands.

How did you like the Lomo'Instant Automat and which is the feature of the camera you appreciated the most?

I literally fell in love with its design, it's fantastic.

In an extremely standardized market, Lomography looks like the only company that pursues a different, brave and fearless philosophy, creating innovative and charming products.

The Lomo'Instant Automat is a very intuitive and user-friendly camera, thanks to its automatic mode. You don't really have to be concerned of any technical setting, you can just focus on the instant you want to shoot.

Thank you, Giacomo, for sharing this project with us. Take a look at his website, Vimeo channel and his Instagram profile to see more of his work.
