In the early morning of August 1, 2023, we began our road trip which took us to Ushuaia. After a few adventures to pick up a well-reserved rental car from France, we hit the road this August 1st on the famous Ruta 40, heading due south. The road is, in sections, impassable, with lots of potholes (and we will barely avoid a puncture), but the landscapes are breathtaking. The first day, we cover 800 km to the small town of Perito Moreno (not to be confused with the glacier of the same name), and the next day, another 650 km to El Chalten. It's the 2nd day that we've been stuck in the mud, and it's a construction machine that will come and get us out of there. Two incredible, unforgettable days, but very few photos, because @grandphilippe and I spent our time driving, and co-driving with maximum concentration... On this album, the only surviving photo of Bariloche from a roll shot with my Horizon Perfekt, and which seems to have given up the ghost. The rest is a #Lomochrome #Color'92 shot with my Nikon FM3a.

The film was a 36 exposure roll of Ultrafine Xtreme B&W ISO 400 (surely expired, as it was bulk-rolled in 2016). The camera used was an Olympus Trip 35. These pictures were lightly edited in Lightroom (adjusting contrast, blacks, whites, and framing). The last time I used this camera, the negatives had some light leaks. This time, I applied duct tape all around the back cover, and that solved the issue; no leaks. However, this time I noticed some grossly unbalanced framings. I'm not sure if the viewfinder is messed up, or if I didn't take parallax into account. I guess that I have to keep testing. But, overall, I am pretty satisfied with the camera. /// La película era un rollo de 36 exposiciones de Ultrafine Xtreme en blanco y negro con ISO 400 (seguramente vencida, ya que el bobinado era del 2016). La cámara utilizada fue una Olympus Trip 35. Las fotos fueron ligeramente editadas en Lightroom (ajustando el contraste, negros, blancos y encuadre). La última vez que utilicé esta cámara, los negativos tenían algunas filtraciones de luz. Esta vez, apliqué cinta adhesiva alrededor de la tapa trasera, y eso resolvió el problema; no hubo fugas. Sin embargo, esta vez noté algunos encuadres groseramente desequilibrados. No estoy seguro si el visor está estropeado o si no tuve en cuenta la paralaje. Supongo que tengo que seguir probando. Pero, en general, estoy bastante satisfecho con la cámara.
Hace unos meses, durante una visita al Ecoparque de Buenos Aires, tuve la oportunidad de tomar estas fotografías. Las mandé a revelar hace solo unos días. Al poco tiempo de compartirlas en Instagram, recibí un like y un nuevo seguidor. Al ver la foto de perfil me pareció que era el cuidador de la foto. Envié la solicitud para seguir su cuenta. Y si, era el cuidador!!
Luego de aceptar mi solicitud se puso en contacto por chat y expresó su aprecio por las imágenes. En ese momento, aproveché la oportunidad para pedirle que me refrescara la historia detrás del Halcón.
A continuación, la historia que me compartió:
"Está hembra de Halcón Peregrino (Falco Peregrinus) fue encontrada en Puerto Madero (CABA) con una herida grave en el pico. Por la anilla que llevaba en su pata, con un número de serie no registrado, creemos que se escapó de un criadero ilegal. Su rehabilitación física la realizó en el Centro de Rescate de Fauna Silvestre de la Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur. (@centro_de_rescate_de_fauna ) Una vez terminada su recuperación se constató que sufría una mala impronta con el ser humano, es decir que nos identifica como sus proveedores de alimento y no desarrolló la habilidad de cazar para valerse por si misma en libertad. Por esto fue trasladada a Ecoparque (ex Zoológico de Buenos Aires) y hoy cumple la función de ave embajadora de su especie."
