Hello Lomo Friends!

I hope everyone is doing well!
Here I go… bloggin’ again… get ready for a grammatical and literary nightmare :-)

I have been pretty busy the past few weeks and I know I have missed out on liking a bunch of awesome photos. But I have been doing my best to get caught up on my notifications from the million piggies giveaway week :-) I hope everybody got in on that deal because it was pretty sweet.

Ok, so since my last real blog, the message camera has traveled to beautiful Torino, Italy where it celebrated the 150th anniversary of Italys Unification with @marant69! Thanks Marco!!! It then went to @artichekt in Dusseldorf, Germany where it was given a grand tour of the city and accidentally ruined a roll of redscale film! Sorry about that Tim! :-) And now its on its way to @warning in Madrid, Spain! Watch out Spain! Thanks to all of you for participating and also thanks again to @troch for getting the party started in Madeira Park, Canada! I love this project!!! Sharing! With the world! :-)

I spent most of the past weekend shooting my Prophecy pics… And I really had a good time! I treated each poster like a mini-adventure, and really tried to bring my A-game :-) I got the pics back from the lab today after work … And I really got some good ones! I had a couple of failures so I might re-shoot a some of them before the deadline. Just for the sake of having a full set of prophecies. I guess you only need one good one to win it… but im trying to go to Austria! :-) So, be on the lookout for those in the next week or so.

I also got this classy little gem while I was out shooting my prophecies and decided it was a perfect candidate for the RAUW Rumble! It is from my second pack of Impossible Spectra film. I decided to try and shoot all people on this pack since I didn’t shoot any people on the first pack.

A quick story about the Minolta 3000i
So, years ago when my girl was a senior in highschool she got a Minolta Maxxum 5 as a gift from her father. That was a pretty good 35mm SLR back in the day. She shot with and enjoyed it but never really learned how to use all of the features and controls on it. I have always been fascinated with cameras and I read the manual and learned how to use it. And I really fell in love with it! I probably shot with it more than her and we had a friend that worked at a lab that would process and print our film for free. So we were really shootin’ it up. Well, that camera and the sweet camera bag and all the lenses and everything got stolen from her car right in front of her house. We were both heart broken!

That was a pretty expensive rig back then and neither of us could afford to replace it. So, at some point after that she bought the Minolta Maxxum 3000i from someone in the newspaper. I hated it! It didn’t have any controls. None of the special features and functions that made the Maxxum 5 so great. So, I never really used it. And my girlfriend didn’t really use it that much either. It just sat in a bag in the closet for years.

So, now I have finally forgiven the camera. I have been shooting with it recently and I dont hate it. I dont really mind the lack of control so much. It still takes some good pics!

I guess the main lesson that can be learned from that whole experience is: if you love your camera…. dont leave it in the car!!! :-)

Have fun out there!
Thanks!
