Holiday LomoAmigo: Wapclub

15

The holidays are almost over and we are down to our last Holiday LomoAmigo. I’m pretty sure you’re familiar with him and his amazing Lomographs so come and know more about wapclub!

Coming from Thailand, this Lomographer has been part of our Community for quite a long time already. Lomography has been part of the many changes in his life including the latest one, his marriage! Read our interview with him below and find out more about his Lomographic experiences!

Piyapong with his wife. Congratulations, newlyweds!

Name: Piyapong Ueanikornchon
LomoHome : wapclub
Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I have a jewelry business. My main job is to find gold or stones for customers and I also do some jewelry design. During holidays, I like going out and bringing my Lomo cameras with me to snap happiness I can’t live without.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

I’ve been [a member of the] Lomography Community for three years. It started when I felt empty and don’t know what I want in my life. Then I found the “10 Golden Rules of Lomography” on the internet and it really impressed me. I was amazed by Lomography’s photos, perspective and color so I learned about Lomography’s background. I think I started a little bit late but not too late for having fun anyway.

An obvious cat lover, here are wapclub’s top five Lomographs in his LomoHome.

What are your plans for the holidays?

It mostly depends on my wife; we go to any place that she wants. Personally, I prefer to travel to where I have never been to. I like to see how it is in different worlds and have relaxing times to absorb that feeling. But hmm, we’re going to a honeymoon somewhere in the snow next year.

Any New Year’s resolutions for 2013?

Well, I just got married last month. Next year will be a good start for a couple life. I’ll try my best to take care of my wife and make her very happy.

Amazing photos of her wife. <3

If you could recommend one movie and one song to everyone, what would they be?

Is it too cruel to choose Saw movies? I like their plot and ending in each part. (Anyway, I’m not a cruel person … I think :p)

For a song, I would like to recommend a Thai song called “Ratree Sawat” which means “Good Night." Many countries are confronting with terrorism problems, as same in the Southern border provinces of Thailand. This song is to hearten that Thai soldiers sacrifice their life to protect everyone.

What’s your favourite analogue camera to shoot with? Why?

This is a difficult question. There’re many cool cameras and sometimes I have to bring more than one. But if I have to choose only one, it will be the LC-Wide because it gives wide angle cameras a different perspective and because I am able to focus the object nearer. It is my most favorite camera right now.

From his favourite LC-Wide.

What’s the next camera you’d like to get your hands on?

None yet but if Lomography releases an LC-A Baby, I may be interested. LOL

What’s your favourite memory from this year?

Singapore Trip with my wife (or girlfriend during that time) and her friends. We’re lucky many times, such as; joining the Singapore National Day Celebration and seeing the Harry Potty exhibition without planning, playing and seeing every attraction we want to in the Universal Studios and in Sentosa, and sleeping overnight in the airport because of missing a flight. LOL. There’re so many memorable experiences.

And now for the toughest question – What’s been your favorite photo from the past year? Why?

This is really the toughest one because I took a bunch of beautiful photos in 2012. But well, I choose this photo.

This is the photo of the castle in the old amusement park where Thai children during my time have been to but now it’s already closed.During that day, I walked pass by chance and took a photo of it without remembering that I have took a tree trunk nearby my workplace before. So I unexpectedly got the castle in fairy tale.

Any holiday shout-outs or tips for your fellow Lomographers?

Find enough information about the places you go to but do not expect too much because it may be different from what you’ve imagined. If we not highly expect, we may find a fun adventure. Good things come to you when you are unprepared and don’t forget to bring your favourite camera and film with you!
