The double exposure is awesome. It really helps it feel like there is another reality on the other side of the water. At least isnt a double exposure with Christmas presents.

Well, this one seems to have turned out quite beautifully regardless of whether it was an accident or not. You are amazing for doing this project. I cannot imagine the anxiety of 2 adults being calm and still underwater, holding their breath and trying to make art. And THEN for it all to turn out so gorgeous...this takes a skill and patience that is surely rare.

It may have been an accident but the double exposure makes this photo for me! It reinforces the plane to the left of the image and transforms this from a drifting water shot into a playful reflective composition. Alice in Wonderland meets Water Babies. I just love it.

myloveletter- this shots are gorgeous! I'm researching my own underwatre shoot... I live in london so we only have indoor pools and I wanted to ask you about lighting- was this taken in an outdoor pool? Do you think how strong the sun was made a big difference? Any thoughts/tips greatly appreciated! thanks :)

  61. myloveletter
    myloveletter ·

@tasha_dylan Sorry it took me so long to respond! I took my underwater photos all outdoors, mostly in a pool, some in springs. All natural sunlight, and I would definitely recommend the sunnier the better, but I have gotten great results on a very overcast day. You can do AMAZING things with lighting, though, which I will be working on soon but haven't yet. A strong underwater strobe light is what you would want, and consider pairing with night time! You can rent these if you can't afford one. Google places in your area or online. Good luck, and I look forward to seeing them!
